Prop. S, Repair and Revitalize Our Schools
Strict Oversight and Public Accountability.
The last bond demonstrated we can build schools on time and under budget.

The last bond – Prop. MM (passed in 1998) – was a tremendous success, with projects completed ahead of schedule and under budget. Prop. MM required the same strict Citizens Oversight and Accountability Safeguards that we have been built into Prop. S. Thanks to the successful financial management of Prop. MM, projects were completed ahead of schedule and under budget, saving the taxpayers more than $82 million.

The last bond, Prop. MM, was so successful that San Diego City Schools received two Golden Watchdog Awards from the San Diego County Taxpayers Association (SDCTA), the Association's highest honor, for fiscal responsibility in the government sector. That will be our goal again for Prop. S.

Schools for the 21st Century
IT’S THE LAW! Strict Taxpayer Safeguards to guarantee Accountability are built into Prop. S so funds will be spent as promised.
No Prop. S funds can be spent for administrators’ salaries. By law, bond money can only be spent on classrooms, buildings and schools.
An Independent Citizens Oversight Committee will oversee all Prop. S projects and spending.
Annual, Independent Audits will be conducted and posted on the internet to protect taxpayer dollars.
A detailed project list spells out exactly what Prop. S will accomplish.
